#Determination – Candice Kowalewski

Candice has been around the CFIO family for quite some time. Candice is a licensed massage therapist and helps our members and coaches relieve sore muscles from time to time. When she first came she was in the beginning stages of her pregnancy and wanted to join after she was cleared to workout shortly after birth.

She stuck to her promise and shortly after her son Harrison was born Candice jumped into our Start-Up program with Coach Brian. We have watched Candice overcome fears, improve stamina and endurance, get stronger, and develop self-confidence like never before. 

We asked her a few questions about why she continues to choose CFIO:

How has CrossFit Inside Out changed your lifestyle?

CrossFit Inside Out has made living a healthy and active lifestyle an enjoyable experience. I have so much fun every time I step foot inside the gym. CFIO has changed my way of thinking in such a positive way.  Even though I’m not where I want to be physically yet, mentally I’m stronger and I’m happier and I know,  in time I’ll get to where I want to be. It has helped me to challenge myself physically and mentally. To not be so hard on myself. (We all have off days and that’s okay as long as we don’t give up).

What was your first impression of CFIO?

It was pretty intimidated at first because I literally didn’t know what I was getting myself into and had no confidence in myself at the time. I had a baby three months prior and had gained 70 lbs.!
I wasn’t sure if I was going to physically be able to do anything. Everyone seemed so close and so fit and I didn’t know anyone, but everyone was so warm and welcoming and after about a week I quickly became comfortable and now I’m proud to say that I’m part of the family. I love these people so stinking much!

What’s been the biggest change you’ve seen since starting CrossFit Inside Out?

I gained 70 lbs during pregnancy, I lost 80 since CFIO (And proper nutrition) I also have muscle tone I’ve never had before which is AWESOME!

What are you working on right now?

Double unders and rope climbs. 💪
I’d really like to loose another 10lbs.
I really want to perfect my technique with the barbell work.

What’s your favorite CFIO memory?

Well I have many great memories in the 10 months I’ve been here but my greatest memory so far has been my most recent…
I finally got my first Box jump!!!!!!
 
It was magical. It was a huge accomplishment for me at CFIO. I never thought I was ever going to do one, it got pretty frustrating and I couldn’t understand why it was such a challenge for me.  I did it! And I am so very proud of myself. When I started doing private one on one classes with Brian Arnold I could hardly do a single air squat, to see how far I’ve come physically and mentally got me pretty emotional. I was smiling from ear to ear all the way home. Such a happy day.  On to my next accomplishment! #Determination 👊
